Title: cheap wand-but lots of fun Date: January 14, 2008
"I bought 2 wands for my kids for Christmas. One did not work at all the other works sometimes after tinkering with it. I ordered one additional wand that actually works. When working they are very cool and the kids just love them. Just dont expect a lot for your money and definitely only pay sale price-because they are very cheaply made. My 8 and 6 year olds give it high ratings for fun!"

Title: My son wants to apply to Hogwarts Date: January 5, 2008
"The wand arrived yesterday--my son has been waiting for it eagerly--and it has hardly been out of his hand. He is a huge fan of the HP movies--the books are a bit beyond his reading skills yet--and he is running around the house yelling "Expelliarmus!", "Stupefy!", etc. My husband tried to unscrew the compartment to put in batteries and was unable--he is going to try again today with another screwdriver. Even without the light and sound, son is having a great time with it."

Title: Son Loved it! Date: November 6, 2007
"My eight year old son loved this wand. I think this was the only reason he wanted to be Harry Potter. He enjoyed "casting spells" on everyone he met. Everyone else wanted to play with it too. The tip lights up when you wave it and it makes a couple of different sounds. It is definitely worth the money. You just need to be careful and not hit anything hard with it, then it needs to be taken apart and fixed, though it is easily fixed."

"The Harry Potter wand has provided hours of fun for the Harry Potter fans in our home. The sound effects and light add extra excitement as the "spells" are being cast. The quality of the product is solid especially for the price we paid. We are definitely getting our monies worth by the hours of fun the kids are having!"

Title: Sporadic want Date: October 19, 2007
"This wand was purchased as a prop for my son's Halloween costume, though he's been playing with it early. It's supposed to swish and make magical noises, but only does so occasionally. To get it to work properly, my son has taken to rapping the bottom (where the battery case is) on the ground which allows the batteries to connect better. Two times out of three, the noises and light will work. Then, it quits and has to be rapped again. It's been like this since we removed it from the package. New batteries don't help. I recommend getting a lower-tech wand if you're looking for a good Harry Potter prop."

Title: Do not buy this wand Date: October 6, 2007
"The wand is very poorly manufactured. I could not get the screw that opens the battery compartment to turn with any screwdriver I had. (And I have a lot.) So I had to pry the plastic cover up from the other end, breaking the tab. Then I could not get either Eveready or Duracell alkaline batteries to fit into the tubular compartment, because it is not wide enough. Finally a cheaper "heavy duty" battery jammed in. But then there was not room to load both AAs one behind the other. I had to apply leverage with a screwdriver to push the first one forward far enough. Then, even if the tab on the cover had not been broken, and even if the unit had a workable screw, the cover would not fit back on the unit because the sides of the batteries stick up out of handle of the wand. So we taped the cover on.
The light works. The "three sounds" are basically pulses of radio static, nothing "woo-woo." My son waved the stick around a few times, chanting spells he has learned from the HP movies, and then went on to better things. Frankly, a gnarled stick from the back yard would probably have done better."

"The boys love them! They do not have an on/off switch so if you are travelling in a car pack them away or you'll be listening to them make sounds with every bump. The battery compartment is very tight. I do not anticipate being able to change the battery without a struggle. Otherwise, a fun wand to wave around."

Title: Fun wand Date: September 28, 2007
"I bought this wand as part of a Hermione costume I got for my daughet. We got the Hermione wand as well but of course we thought the one with the light would be fun too. It does make magical swishing sounds and the tip lights up. I found it a bit difficult to get the batteries loaded, but once in, you are good to go. If beyond Halloween your little wizaed is planning to play dress up this should be lots of fun."

Title: Recommend, but with some reservations Date: September 27, 2007
"So these wands are super cheap and plasticy looking. But, they do the trick. If you have a screwdriver, you can open up the case and put a couple double A (not provided) batteries in. But you may regret doing that, because then, every time the wand moves (even if it is just in a box of costume stuff you are carrying to your car) it will make really really loud "spell" noises. It also lights up. If this is what you want, go for it, otherwise leave the batteries out."
