Title: Not quite what I needed

"This hat WAS a little shallow, and I needed silver, not gold trim. Also, this hat does NOT come with a plume, so if you want a big fluffy feather, you'll have to buy it elsewhere and sew it on. The gold trim can be removed easily without marring up the hat or removing any seams. I replaced it with silver store bought trim in a matter of minutes without any problems. Kind of loose on my head, but fits my husband's rather well. The wire frame can be warped into a "kink" that is hard to remove. The thick velvet like fabric has a nice, very black finish, but tends to pick up lint and hair. Easily removed with a lint brush. Overall, though, a pretty good product, if a little pricier than I'd wanted."

"The simple fact..... not designed to fit well and stay on top of your head if you plan to move....at all. Looks great, and is a decent deal... just a very shallow but wide depth that doesn't hold it on your head..... it's a shame because unless I use it for still photographs it's useless."

"The hat was shallow, as the other reviews have admitted. I found a solution to be wearing a bandanna underneath it to give it a tighter fit. It was nice to be able to bend the wires to a different shape then originally shown. I folded it to look more like Captain Jack Sparrows hat from POTC. The only complaint is that, in a tight club there was a lot of bumping into my hat, which shifted it and messed up my bandanna and hair. It is a large hat so I should have expected it."

"There is a beautiful pirate's hat on your website with feathers - but it says "captain's hat" and it costs almost $50. This one was the cheaper alternative. I'm a little afraid that it will blow off in a strong wind because it just kind of lays on your head. I do plan to go to the craft store and get a matching gold band to go around the crown of the hat and hot glue some feathers to it. It will still cost a lot less than the captain's hat and hopefully look just as good. Thanks."

Title: A nice hat but..

"This was great looking hat. I bought it to go with a pirate costume, but it didn't fit! Maybe it's just my head, but it was very shallow and it wouldn't sit on my head right. It kept falling off because it wasn't deep enough to sit on my head properly. I had my husband try it on too, and it also fell off his head. It's a great looking hat, it wasn't cheap-feeling at all. I would've kept it had it fit properly."

Title: Poor quality

"The item arrived mis-shapen and looks nothing like the picture. Although it's not just a piece of foam and has some weight to it, it doesn't bend so it can be shaped like a pirate's hat and the inside is small almost child-sized. It's very poor quality, especially for the price!"

Title: Great Hat!

"This hat reminds me of the one worn by Barbosa in Pirate's of the Caribbean. I think that was the character's name. The same guy that played Cassanova Frankinstein, he's cool and so is this hat. I love the oversizeness of it because I have a big head, actully just a little bigger would be even better. Because of the wired bream of the hat you can do a lot with it and it looks great. This was a very good buy."

"I ordered this hat to wear with a pirate outfit that I had purchased from buycostumes. The hat is much larger than it appears in the photo, so it is definitely for an adult size head. It is a good quality product for the money; the black fabric is very velvety and the hat can be easily shaped the way you want it. The only thing about the hat that I didn't like was the oversized aspect of it."

"I just got the hat to go with my pirate costume and it's a perfect way to finish off the costume. The only complaint I have is that it is a little lose on my head, the opening is just a bit too big...I had a friend try it on and it was too big for her head as well. But it still stays on. I did dress it up a bit with a feather and stuff."
