"I thought the style was very cute; the cut flattering for those of us who are not a size 2. It fit fairly well, but I was disappointed in the quality of the materials used. I buy costumes every year and know they don't use 'real' material as u might like, but these were particularly thin and flimsy. The pants were a joke - just shiny brown 'bloomers' but you can easily use regular pants instead. Boot tops were very nice. Hat was horrible (buy one separately!). Would have been so much more pleased if they had just used a bit better material for the top. Good buy and nice style but disappointing compared to the photo."

"I bought this costume to wear for Disney Princess & Pirate Party in Feb07.... received it and it did NOT fit true to size... but way smaller. If you have any amount of "bust" forget about it. (Not sure how the girl in the picture is even wearing this with her "bust.") The shirt and pants are cheap, thin and totally see-through! Just awful. I returned it immediately. I was so disappointed ! It looked like a great costume in the picture. This is the first costume that I have had an issue with from this site. All others have been great. This is not an issue with BuyCostumes.com, but with the manufacturer of the costume. Poorly made."

"Good thing I ordered larger than what I normally wear, as even with that it was none too big. In fact the "pants" were too short (and I'm only 5'3) so I had to wear something of my own. The "belt" actually only attaches at the shoulder and waist on the front- not clear around. The boot covers I had to safety pin to my pants or they would have been at my ankles. The "hat" (basically paper) was BIG and unshapable, so I ended up buying something else. The end result did turn out to be a cute costume-with my additions and extra cost- but definately overpriced for no more than what it is."

"I wasn't all that impressed with the costume. The pants were wierd. the boot tops did not stay up and were not tall enough for the pants. The belt buckle and the belt across the front of the comstume is extremely cheap.I ended up cutting the white top out of the jacket and cutting the belt off the front too. This was overpriced for the quality of the costume. The shipping on this was very fast."

"This costume fit about to size and will be a fun costume to wear to my different Halloween events. The main problem I had with the costume was the cost and quality. For the amount of money spent I thought I would get a little higher quality fabric and overall costume. It really doesn't look much better than the $25 costume I saw at Wal-Mart! Overall, I would rate this costume average-- but am still a little disappointed with it."

"I will wear the costume, however it is not to my expectations. The pants are short, and I'm 5'3" so when I say they're short, it means they are short. The boot covers do not stay up, I will have to secure them to the pants with a safety pin. The shirt fits as described I suppose, but honestly it does not appear as it does in the picture. And the hat can be molded accordingly but shows up mangled and folded beyond recognition of the fact that it is in deed a hat. Ultimately it is wearable with some modifications, but not as expected."

"I purchased this costume and it's not what I expected. The hat is so mangled in the package I can't seem to get it shaped to even look like a pirate hat. The boot covers do not stay up, you'll have to stich or sew them to the costums pants. The color of the costume is more of a plum purple, not maroon as the picture shows. With all that said, I think I just wasted $60.00. This one is going to be returned."

"The shirt is cute, but the pants are short and come out of the boot covers everytime I sat down. I'm only 5'4", so I have no idea how well this will work for a taller person. Will have to find a way to make them stay together. Hat was smashed and hard to bend into shape. Ended up having to make a few stitches to hold it all together in a recognizable pirate hat shape. If you've got time to tweak it, this costume is cute."

"The overall concept is great, however, the quality of the material is not very good. I will not be able to were this more than once. Im 5' 8" and the pants were a little short for me. The hat was so mangeled in packing, I had to buy a replacement at wal mart...thank goodness for the popularity of pirates right now. If your dont mind paying $50 for a one use costume and you are under 5'8" tall this may be the costume for you."

"The costume you will receive does not quite match the photo, and the photo is already not exactly like the costume in the movie.
To start, the hat is made of thin fabric with wires around the edge. It comes packed flat and you need to shape it yourself. Nothing I did made it look quite as nice as the photo. It was also incredibly large.
The shirt and vest are one piece, which isn't really called out in the description. The leather strap across the front is attached to the shirt. Depending on how the shirt fits you, this means it may not lie in the right place. The strap on mine was thinner and lighter brown than the one in the picture and the buckle piece was different.
The pants I received where a golden color, unlike the brown in the movie and the photo. They are very satiny. Despite me being 5'4" and this being an adult costume, the pants end above my knees, which was higher than I wanted them.
The boot covers were okay, although if I pull them up high enough to cover the bottom of the pants, they sit very high on my feet, with a lot of my own shoe showing. Even if you let them sit lower on your foot, they don't cover the entire foot as well as some other boot covers do. Because the covers have a brown/black vintage leather look to them, it is very hard to find shoes or boots to wear underneath that will match, so you see a noticeable difference between your actual shoes and the boot covers.
Overall, this costume would be fine for $20, but is not worth it for the price. In order to look close to Elizabeth Swann, I had to buy a different hat, different pants and make my own strap. It probably would've been easier and cheaper to buy my own boot covers and ivory pirate shirt and tried to make the vest myself."
