"My nine year old girl loved this costume and it is very cute! She complained that the sleeves were itchy so she wore a black long sleeve shirt under it - and that also helped keep her warm.
We had to alter the hat. It's shipped flat and you need to form/mold it to your head - but it still didn't look a "pirate" hat - or the picture. So I untacked the sides of the hat and hand sewed it in the proper place - no big deal.
Later, saw this costume at a local Halloween store for $10 more - plus I had free shipping. Love the great deal!!"

"My little girl so wanted to be a pirate last year but I couldnt find one that I liked. She was two at the time and most of them seemed too boyish or kind of mean looking. Anyways I found this one and fell in love with it online. When we got it my little girl just loved it as well. It is so darn cute on. Honestly I think its the cuttest girls pirate costume I have ever come across. The only thing that was agrivating was that the hat was really flattened out when it is shipped so I had to shap it myself by folding it the way I wanted it and putting it between two heavy books for about a week and it was fine. Anyways we recieved compliments all night long on how cute she was !! I would so recommend this one to anyone whos little girl wants to be a pirate !!"

"The costume is so so cute. The quality of the material was good! The only complaint is that the hat is to small. The size is true to size not the hats. REAL SMALL. I just cut to make fit. to bad though because the hat is cute!!! It still looked good though!"

"We received this costume today. My daughter was so excited. Once she got the dress on we were afraid it wasn't going to zip up. She's a true size 8 and could barely get into the dress. The hat is totally useless and looks to be for a 3 year old toddler. The costume however, is ADORABLE!! I guess we'll have to buy a pirate hat to complete the outfit. PLEASE buy a full step up in size or you'll be disappointed. Hey "BuyCostume" folks, put a better hat with this outfit and it will be perfect! :-)"

"I bought this costume for my daughter this year. She is 6 years old and fits into size 6 clothes, and she BARELY FITS into the size Medium costume (which is supposed to be size 8/10). And the size large was way too big, so we went with the Medium. I love the costume, but the hat is unusable. It really is a shame. It says in the notes that the hat is small but could be fastened with bobby pins, but it is so small that it looks ridiculous. I don't know why they bothered including it. My daughter does not have a big head, either. 15" is like a toddler's head or smaller.

If you are purchasing this costume, be prepared to be disappointed with the hat. You will not be able to wear it. The rest of it is great."

"This costume is so cute, but make sure that unless your child is slim, to purchase a size larger than needed, because this runs very small. The material is wonderful so you get what you pay for. I had to return one because it wouldn't even zip up, so now I am waiting on a larger one to arrive."

"I liked the costume and the thin black velvet. I thought it was decently priced at $39.99, however the sizing is way OFFF.
My daughter is 8 years old, and is a stringbean, after taking her measurements, she fell into the 8-10 size (with room to grow), however, when received it fit way too snug. (It also showed her under wear when she bent over.) I had to return it to get the 12-14 size. Which fit better. ORDER THE NEXT SIZE UP. All in all, it is made nicely. I will write again if my return is not credited timely."
