"The costume is way too long for a short dog. We have a jack russell and tried the medium, then the small. We ended up putting the costume on his back, so you could see it when he walked, looking down at him."

"I have a pomeranian who is 10 inches down his back. He wears a size small in everything - costumes, clothes, etc. This size small costume which is supposed to fit 10-12 inches is HUGE! It is 5 times too big for my dog. It is very cute. If you have a larger breed dog with very long legs, this could be a great costume. Just beware that it is no where near a typical size small in dog apparel."
